General education, not individualized advice
Information on this website, including discussions of acupuncture, Traditional Chinese Medicine, herbal medicine, food, recipes, Qi Gong and exercises, is provided for general educational purposes. It is not an individualized diagnosis, treatment plan or substitute for appropriate professional assessment.
Different approaches to health
Traditional Chinese Medicine and conventional medicine use different approaches to assessing and treating health. They may be used independently or alongside one another, but their assessments, diagnoses and treatment objectives should not be considered interchangeable. A TCM pattern assessment does not establish or rule out a biomedical diagnosis.
Individual needs and safety
Appropriate treatments, exercises, dietary practices and herbs depend on a person’s health history, medications, symptoms and circumstances. Herbs and supplements can interact with medications and may be unsuitable for some people. Seek individualized guidance before making changes to treatment, and do not stop or alter prescribed medication without consulting the prescribing clinician.
Exercise and movement practices should be adapted to individual ability. Stop if an activity causes concerning symptoms and seek appropriate advice.
Emotional well-being
TCM may describe emotional well-being using traditional patterns and organ-system concepts that do not directly correspond to biomedical organs or psychological diagnoses. Acupuncture and TCM care are not psychotherapy, counselling or psychiatric treatment and do not replace appropriate mental-health services.
When to seek medical care
Persistent, worsening or concerning symptoms warrant appropriate professional assessment. This website and routine messaging are not emergency services. If you are experiencing a medical emergency in Ontario, call 911.
No guaranteed outcomes
Descriptions of services, techniques and potential benefits are not guarantees of a particular result. Individual responses vary.
